Self Suspension Workout
Tell me more:
Self suspension is not just a good way to train your Shibari skills – it is your next level to feel your body and create a dynamic session with yourself.
In this workshop, we’ll primarily focus on the dynamic aspects of self-suspension, emphasizing movement and transitions.
Description:
This workshop can be physically and mentally demanding.
You’ll simultaneously step into the roles of rigger and model while learning and practicing new techniques.
Therefore, please prepare well for the workshop, arrive well-rested, and have a light snack.
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water.
Your safety is paramount, and we’ll ensure that no one exceeds their limits during the workshop and will adjust the exercises to your skill level as needed.
Content:
• Self-tie harnesses for the torso and hips (you may bring your own if you already have a harness of your choice)
• Upline handling
• From full suspension to transition
• Two ways of transitioning (by movement, by adding/removing uplines)
• Tying yourself in motion
Level:
From lower intermediate
Pre-requisites:
We will learn to tie an upper body harness & a lower-body harness.
You should be able to follow the instructor as we learn to tie harnesses in a safe way.
It is good to have had some experience with suspension, but this is not a necessity: you will be able to choose how to remain within your comfort and skill levels.
Please bring:
– 5-8 ropes
– Comfy clothing
– Snacks & drinks
– 2-3 carabiners
– Ring
About your instructor:
Ori & Tim: This rope bondage duo from northern Germany has been captivating audiences for three years with workshops and shows characterized by their dynamic approach and a challenge to traditional gender roles. Ori has been exploring the Shibari scene as a rigger since 2017. She became involved with tying larger individuals, especially men. Her desire to ensure safety and a sense of release for all her partners has taught her to overcome size differences using simple techniques and anatomical tricks.
She’s also an aerial acrobat specializing in self-suspension. She has developed her own unique style, which she will share with you in the workshop on Sunday.
Tim, as a model, loves the challenge and dynamics of working with ropes. He can draw on his extensive experience as a heavier model and offer personalized guidance for the models in their workshops.
