Could you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Charlie. I am originally from Geneva. I moved to Denmark about 5 years ago and restarted being in the kink scene after about 5 years of break.
When did you first encounter rope?
I was 18 years old and I discovered rope after a session of play piercing where I told my piercer that I wanted to explore new physical experiences (I hadn’t knowledge of shibari or anything kinky; the playpiercing itself was only for an artistic photoshoot).
He then recommended that I try Shibari.
After some research on the internet, I found a rigger in my city who accepted a discussion to allow me to discover ropes. At this point, I had very little idea of what was going to happen.
I went to his place, and tried an hour-long session. It was like an epiphany for me.
And it is where everything started.
What’s your favourite/funniest/best memory of tying or being tied?
This happened recently actually.
My husband recently decided to try rope (as a rigger). He is not so deeply involved in the kinks sphere as I am (heehee!) but he found some interest in ropes.
After our very first class with Henrik and Rose (big-up to them by the way! Their class rocks!) We practiced tying the knots again at home. And after some times doing this, we tried to do a more “freestyle” practice, that could be called a rope session.
We put on some music, and decided to let it go.
I could see my husband being all focused on his knots but also on my skin and my reactions. And for the first time, I felt something between us that I never felt before.
It was some form of new connection that felt warm and soft. Like a little talk we were having through the ropes.
I never thought I would be able to feel other unique things that I already know for him as I know us by heart.
And this little time. All cute as two people becoming new to each other again. It felt like I was meeting him again for the first time. And that he was discovering me again. For the first time as well.
It felt like time stopped for a moment and nothing mattered but us, through the ropes. It was magical <3
What’s something you’d tell people just getting started or might be curious about rope?
Don’t be afraid of yourself. Rope is not only one thing that will exclude you if you can’t fit the mold.
It is like drawing with many different styles.
Everyone started by learning how to hold the pen. But at the end you don’t have to feel perfect to be able to start this journey.
Learn the safety, consent and knots basics.
And then, have fun, the hardest part is the first class! Then you’re good!
Would you like to tell us about any hopes, dreams or goals you have for your rope life? Anything you are really looking forward to?
I am just excited to explore more through the door we just opened with my beloved one.
I am so excited to see him take passion through something I have been enjoying for decades. And seeing him joining me in this amazing world is something that brings me so much happiness! I just hope we keep going on in this direction, no matter where it goes.
